LAHAINA, Hawai'i -- Vanessa Wang carded her third career round in the 60s and Nicole Neale and Elizabeth Scholtes added par 72s as Cal Poly climbed two spots into fourth place following the final round of play in the Anuenue Spring Break Classic on Wednesday at the Ka'anapali Golf Course.
Wang posted a 69 which included four birdies and one bogey on the 6,013-yard, par-72 layout, jumping from 32nd place into a tie for 13th place at the conclusion of the three-day 54-hole event.
Her performance helped coach Courtney Roberts' squad post a final-round four-person 287 total and a three-under-par 861 aggregate for 54 holes.
Pepperdine claimed the team title with an 18-under-par 846 total followed by Denver at 853 and UCLA with an 854 total. There were 14 teams in the tournament.
Neale's 72 included one bogey, one birdie and 16 pars en route to an eighth-place finish while Scholtes compiled her 72 with the same totals -- 16 pars, one birdie and one bogey -- to place 36th.
Cal Poly's other scoring golfers were Kamille Dimayuga with a ninth-place finish following her round of 74 and Carissa Wu with an 81 for 66th place.
Neale now has two top-10 finishes this year and Dimayuga three. Wang earned her third top-20 finish of the year.
Zoe Campos of UCLA was crowned medalist with a 12-under-par 204 total, two strokes ahead of runner-up Carla Bernat of Tulane. Alyson Bean of Denver was third at 207.
Dimayuga was fifth in par-3 scoring at one under par and sixth in par-5 scoring at five under par. Neale finished eighth in par-4 scoring at two under par.
Dimayuga's 13 birdies over 54 holes was tied for third while both Wang and Scholtes shared third place with four other golfers, all with 39 pars.
Cal Poly's next competition is the Big West Conference Championship, slated for April 16-18 at Spanish Trail Country Club in Las Vegas. The Mustangs claimed their second straight Big West title last season at the San Luis Obispo Country Club.
