SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — After picking up a commanding non-conference victory at San Jose State, Cal Poly women's tennis returns to Big West action for matches at UC Riverside and Long Beach State to cap a three-match road swing.
The Mustangs face the Highlanders first at 1:30 p.m. Friday and turn around the following day for an 11 a.m. match against the Beach.

Cal Poly is seeking its first Big West win of the season after dropping its conference opener to CSUN 4-3 on Feb. 18.
The Mustangs (2-5) will be looking to carry the momentum from this past Saturday's 4-1 win at SJSU into these pivotal Big West matches.
In that victory, Kim Bhunu rose to the occasion and rallied for a 0-6, 6-2, 6-2 at the No. 1 singles spot. She also teamed up with freshman Kennedy Buntrock for a dominant 6-1 win at No. 2 doubles. Since debuting as a doubles pair against the Matadors, Bhunu and Buntrock have amassed a 2-1 record together.
Melissa LaMette (pictured on the left above) and Alexandra Ozerets (pictured on the right above) also own a 2-1 record since joining forces at the No. 3 doubles spot. The duo grabbed a 7-5 win in the dual against the Spartans to help Cal Poly secure the doubles point.
Ozerets picked up a 7-6 (7-4), 7-5 victory at the No. 5 singles spot at SJSU as well, improving her record on the season to 5-1. The freshman is a perfect 3-0 at the No. 6 spot and 2-1 at No. 5.
UC Riverside enters Friday with a 2-6 record on the season. The Highlanders are 0-3 in Big West play, falling to LBSU 4-0, and Hawai'i and CSUN 7-0. UCR's lone victories came at home against Hope International and Westmont.
The Mustangs have never lost to UC Riverside in Division I program history and rolled to a 7-0 home victory over the Highlanders last season.
Cal Poly won both matches against the Beach in 2022. They downed LBSU 4-0 at the Mustang Tennis Complex on April 1 for their first victory over Long Beach in over 15 years, then a few weeks later the Mustangs defeated the seventh-seeded Beach 4-1 in the Big West quarterfinals.
LBSU is fresh off a trip to the East Coast where they suffered a 5-1 loss to Harvard, currently ranked No. 65 in the nation, and earned a 4-3 win over Dartmouth this past Saturday.
The Beach (3-3) are undefeated in conference play, posting victories over UC Riverside and UC San Diego.
Following Saturday's match at LBSU, Cal Poly returns to the Mustang Tennis Complex for a four-match homestand which begins Friday, March 10, with a 2 p.m. battle against Big West foe UC San Diego.
