Cal Poly Claims Eighth Place in Causeway Invitational

FINAL RESULTS
SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- The Causeway Invitational, scheduled for 54 holes Monday and Tuesday, was halted and declared complete after just 18 holes of play due to inclement weather.
"The greens were pooling with water," said Mustang head coach Courtney Roberts after the second round, scheduled for Monday afternoon at Del Paso Country Club, was canceled Tuesday at 11 a.m.
After Monday's 18 holes, Washington was in the lead with a four-over-par 292 total on the 6,143-yard par-72 course and the Huskies were declared the winner Tuesday. BYU finished second with a 295 total followed by Cal at 296.
Cal Poly claimed eighth place in the 13-team field with a four-person 16-over-par 304 aggregate.
The Mustangs' top finishers were Jensen Jalufka, Carissa Wu and Nicole Neale, all with a 73 for an eighth-place tie with two other golfers. Wu was competing as an individual.
Kamille Dimayuga added a 77 for 36th place while Vanessa Wang checked in with an 81 for 62nd place. Elizabeth Scholtes carded an 83 for 66th place.
Individual winner was Abigail Leighton of UC Davis with a two-under-par 70, one shot ahead of Adora Liu and Tzu-Yi Chang, both of Cal, and Camille Boyd of Washington, all with 71s.
Wu finished second in par-3 scoring at one under par while Neale was third and Jalufka fourth in par-4 scoring at one under par and even par respectively.
Wu and Neale both recorded three birdies in their round, tied for ninth among the field of 75 golfers. Wu and Jalufka also had 13 pars, tied for fifth place.
Cal Poly will compete in the Trinity Forest Invitational hosted by SMU on March 6-7 at the Trinity Forest Golf Club in Dallas, Texas.
