SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — The Cal Poly women's soccer program added another offensive threat to its roster with the recent announcement that forward/midfielder Jessie Halladay will be joining the team for the 2023 season.
Halladay (Los Gatos, Calif.) is a transfer from Loyola Marymount University who has three years of eligibility left beginning this fall.
"Jessie comes from a very strong club environment where she was a true goal scorer," Cal Poly women's soccer head coach Alex Crozier said. "We are looking forward to seeing what she can bring to the program."
A 2022 Los Gatos High grad, Halladay appeared in all 17 matches for LMU this past season as a true freshman, playing a season-high 48 minutes in a scoreless draw at UC Irvine on Aug. 21 and registering her first collegiate shot on goal in a 1-0 defeat at Pacific on Nov. 2.
Halladay had a decorated club career with FC Bay Area Surf and also spent time with the San Jose Earthquakes. While with the FC Bay Area Surf, she played alongside current Cal Poly defender Camryn Penn for a few years. The pair helped the club capture the U-19 Girls Academy League National Championship in 2021 and the U-19 Girls Academy Champions League title in 2022.
In 2019, Halladay also led the Surf to a U-17 Girls Academy League National Championship.
Halladay, who is pursuing a degree in graphic communications, was named the 2022 Women's Premier Soccer League Pac North Conference Offensive Player of the Year, and selected to the WPSL Pac North All-Conference Best XI.
Halladay is the 13th member of Cal Poly's 2023 signing class, joining incoming freshmen Anna Babinski (Albuquerque, N.M.), Ella Economos (Alamo, Calif.), Ali Evans (Sammamish, Wash.), Annika Smith (Scottsdale, Ariz.), Jaycee DeFazio (El Dorado Hills, Calif.), Leah Sulzberg (San Ramon, Calif.), Sophia Moness (El Dorado Hills, Calif.), Courtney Wagner (Rocklin, Calif.), Kasia Wolf (Santa Barbara, Calif.), Tacey Bivin (Paso Robles, Calif.), Bailey Bracha (Clovis, Calif.) and Siena Urzua (Santa Barbara, Calif.).
