SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — Cal Poly beach volleyball head coach Todd Rogers announced that Lindsey Sparks, a graduate transfer from UCLA, has signed with the Mustangs and will join the program for the 2024 season.
Sparks has spent the last five years at UCLA but has missed the last two seasons due to injury. In three playing seasons with the Bruins, she had a career record of 69-11, was named Second Team All-Pac 12 in 2021 and to the PAC-12 All-Freshman Team in 2019.
"I'm super excited to announce that Lindsey Sparks will be a mid-year graduate student addition to the Mustang beach volleyball program," head coach Todd Rogers said. "Coming out of high school Lindsey was one of the top recruits in the nation. She has incredibe knowledge and experience on the court and won a national championship at UCLA. She has played in multiple domestic AVP events as well as international age group events."
She helped UCLA win a national championship in 2019 and make it all the way to the national championship match in 2021. In 2019, she and her playing partner went a perfect 9-0 in postseason play, 5-0 at Pac-12's and 4-0 at NCAA's. She was named to both the Pac-12 All-Tournament Team and NCAA All-Tournament Team in 2019 and to the Pac-12 All-Tournament Team in 2021.
As a freshman in 2019, she went 33-2 with 27 of those wins coming against pairs from ranked teams. In the abbreviated 2020 season, she was 12-3 while mostly playing at the No. 2 spot in the lineup. In 2021, she went 24-6 while spending much of the season at the No. 3 spot in the lineup and went 20-6 against ranked teams.
Off the court, she was named to UCLA Athletic Director's Honor Roll eight times throughout her career.
"We have a young team so the addition of Lindsey as a seasoned player who has 'been there, done that' will increase the overall experience level of the team," Rogers added. "I'm looking forward to welcoming Lindsey to the Mustang fold in January!"
