Stockham, Bullis Earn Big West Weekly Awards

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — Following stellar individual weeks to help the Cal Poly volleyball team to a pair of victories, Mustang redshirt junior outside hitter Tommi Stockham and redshirt sophomore setter Emme Bullis both earned Big West weekly honors.
Stockham was named Big West Offensive Player of the Week while Bullis earned Big West Setter of the Week. For Stockham, this is her fourth career Big West Offensive Player of the Week honor while for Bullis this is her fifth career Big West Setter of the Week award.
Last week against UC Davis and UC Riverside, Stockham finished with double-doubles in each match. She averaged 3.86 kills per set, totaling 27 kills as well as 3.57 digs per set, and three aces. She also reached the huge milestone of 1,000 kills in her Cal Poly career on Saturday.
In a 3-1 win over UC Davis, Stockham had 13 kills, 12 digs, and three aces. She followed that up with 14 kills with just two errors to hit .500, and 13 digs in a 3-0 sweep victory over UC Riverside.
Bullis averaged 9.29 assists per set and 2.00 digs per set for the week as she helped direct the Cal Poly offense to a .223 hitting percentage. Against the Aggies, she had 41 assists, eight digs, three blocks, and an ace. Then in the sweep of UC Riverside, she finished with 24 assists, six digs, two aces, and a block.
With the wins this weekend, the Mustangs have won five straight matches to put themselves at 5-1 and tied for second in the Big West standings heading into a huge week this week in which they will face the two other top teams in the standings.
Thursday, Cal Poly heads south to face Blue-Green rival UCSB at 7 p.m. The Gauchos currently sit atop the Big West standings at 6-0.
That will be followed by the always highly anticipated home match against Hawai'i Saturday at 7 p.m. at Mott Athletics Center for a blackout match. The Rainbow Wahine are tied with Cal Poly for second in the standings at 5-1. Tickets for that match can be purchased at GoPoly.com/tickets.
