
Cal Poly Falls at No. 32 Cal Sunday

BERKELEY, Calif. — Playing its first of a stretch of four consecutive road matches, the Cal Poly men's tennis team fell on the road at No. 32 Cal Sunday, 6-1.
The No. 56 Mustangs (9-4) started out the match strong by taking the doubles point over the No. 32 Golden Bears (10-3).
After Cal got a win from the No. 1 spot, Cal Poly's No. 2 duo of freshman Bastiaan Weststrate and redshirt sophomore Colter Smith won 6-4 to improve their record together to 7-3.
The No. 3 pairing of sophomore Noah Berry and redshirt sophomore Fernando Fonseca then clinched the doubles point after a 7-5 win to push their record this season to a team-leading 7-2 and extend their win streak to five straight matches.
However, Cal proceeded to win all six singles matches to complete the victory.
Next up for the Mustangs is a trip across the Pacific to face Big West foe Hawai'i on Thursday, March 24 at 9 a.m. PT.
