Cal Poly Climbs into Sixth-Place Tie in The Gunrock Invitational

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- The Cal Poly women's golf team jumped three spots into a tie for sixth place, one stroke shy of a top-five finish, in The Gunrock Invitational, which ended a two-day, 54-hole run Tuesday at the Del Paso Country Club.
Freshman Kaylyn Noh led the final-round Mustang surge with a four-under-par 68 on the 6,067-yard, par-72 course on the northeast side of the state capital. Noh's third round of 68 this season included six birdies and just a pair of bogeys.
Noh jumped 17 spots on the leaderboard, finishing in a tie for 12th place with three other golfers in the 11-team tournament at three under par. She posted a 70 and 75 in the first two rounds for her fifth career top-20 finish in seven tries.
Also finishing in the top 20 was Kamille Dimayuga, another Mustang freshman, who wrapped up a consistent tournament run with a 782 following Monday's pair of 71s. Dimayuga finished tied for 16th place with four other golfers with two-under-par 214 aggregates, carding four birdies and an equal number of bogeys Tuesday.
Jensen Jalufka posted a 70 with three birdies and only one bogey to wrap up a 54-hole 219 performance and a tie for 31st place, a climb of 14 positions.
Elizabeth Scholtes signed her scorecard with a final-round 72 and finished in a tie for 45th place at 223 while Vanessa Wang turned in a 75 for a 225 total and 51st place.
Competing as an individual, Caroline Cantlay finished in a tie for 23rd place with a 68, climbing 18 spots after bettering her scores of 74 and 74 on Monday. Cantlay's round included five birdies and a single bogey.
After posting a four-person 290 in the morning and 294 in the afternoon Monday, the Mustangs combined for a 282 total Tuesday, the third-best round in the field, for a two-over-par 866 total, tied for sixth place with Sacramento State.
Stanford claimed an easy victory with a 50-under-par 814, 36 strokes ahead of Washington. Iowa State was third, two shots behind the Huskies.
Individual winner was Rachel Heck of Stanford with rounds of 63, 68 and 67 for an 18-under-par 198 aggregate, four shots ahead of teammate Rose Zhang (66-68-68--202). Riana Mission of San Francisco placed third at 205.
Cal Poly returns to action March 21-22 at the Fresno State Classic, to be held at the Copper River Country Club. It will be the final tournament prior to the 2022 Big West Conference Championships, which Cal Poly will host April 10-12 at the San Luis Obispo Country Club.
