FRESNO, Calif. -- Fourth-place Cal Poly is just nine strokes off the pace set by Hawai'i after the first 36 holes of play in the Fresno State Classic on Monday at the Belmont Country Club.
Coach Sofie Aagaard's Mustangs posted a four-person 299 total in the first round and a 293 in the second round for a 16-over-par 592 total, sharing fourth place with San Francisco. Hawai'i checked in with a 289 and 294 for a seven-over-par 583 aggregate.
Final round is set for Tuesday morning at the Belmont Country Club.
Jensen Jalufka is tied for seventh place and Kamille Dimayuga is tied for 11th place after 36 holes of play. Jalufka carded a 71 and 75 while Dimayuga checked in with a 76 and 71.
Leader Jessica Hall of Fresno State posted a pair of 70s and is two shots ahead of Hawai'i's Momo Sugiyama, who recorded back-to-back 71s.
Mustang senior Elizabeth Scholtes signed cards with a 78 and 71 on them and is tied for 28th place while Vanessa wang posted two rounds of 76 for 43rd place. Rounding out Cal Poly's scoring, Caroline Cantlay had a 76 and 78 and is tied for 49th place.
