Cal Poly Women’s Tennis Blanks No. 51 Fresno State Friday

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – Laura Bente (picture) had the match-clinching singles win to seal a 4-0 shut out for Cal Poly over No. 51 Fresno State Friday at Mustang Tennis Complex.
The Mustangs (5-3) are now 3-0 at home and on a two-match winning streak.
This was Bente's second match of the dual season since returning from injury.
Cal Poly started off by taking the double's point with the No. 3 duo Eliza Bates and Peyton Dunkle winning 6-1. The No. 1 doubles duo of Emily Ackerman and Kim Bhunu (6-4) soon followed with a 6-4 victory to clinch the point.
Bhunu defeated Fresno State's No. 1 singles spot 6-3, 6-4. Next the No. 3 spot was conquered by Melissa LaMette (6-4) 6-1, 6-2.
Bente, playing at the No. 2 spot, then clinched the match with a 6-3, 6-4 victory.
The Mustangs will be on the road for their next two matches against University of San Francisco Saturday, March 5 at 2 p.m. and Pacific Sunday, March 6 at 11 a.m.
