SAN LUIS OBISPO – After scoring a career high 23 points during the Cal Poly men's basketball program's Nov. 28 win at Pacific and averaging 8.0 rebounds per two Mustang victories, junior forward Brantly Stevenson has been named Big West Conference Player of the Week and Mechanics Bank Cal Poly Student-Athlete of the Week.
With Stevenson supplying a 10-for-13 shooting performance – including the go-ahead jumper with 39 seconds to play – and matching the highest scoring performance by a Mustang this season with 23 points, Cal Poly overturned a 14-point second half deficit at Pacific to earn a 62-58 win.
Stevenson added his second eight-rebound game and six points against California Baptist (Dec. 3) to help Cal Poly extend its winning streak to three straight with a 64-53 home victory.
For the two games, Stevenson led Cal Poly with 14.5 points and 8.0 rebounds per game and a 66.7 (12-for-18) percent field goal mark.
Cal Poly's second leading shooter at 53.3 (24-for-45) percent this season, Stevenson also ranks fourth in the lineup at 9.3 points per game.
As a program, Cal Poly (4-3) seeks its first four-game winning streak in seven years when hosting Portland State inside Mott Athletics Center on Saturday, Dec. 10. Tip time is 7 p.m.
