SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — After closing a historic career out strong this past weekend, Cal Poly volleyball senior opposite hitter Maia Dvoracek has been named the Mechanics Bank Cal Poly Student-Athlete of the Week.
In the final two matches of the season, Dvoracek totaled 33 kills, hitting .374, 19 digs, five aces, and four blocks.
Against UC Irvine, she broke the program's single season ace record which had stood since 2008. For the season, she finished with 70, breaking the old record of 66. In that match, she recorded her 20th double-double of the season with 16 kills, 11 digs, four blocks, and three aces.
In a 3-1 win the next night against UC San Diego, she went out with a 17-kill, eight-dig, two-ace performance to finish her historic career.
Dvoracek left a lasting mark on the program, finishing fifth in program history in career aces with 134, second in career aces per set, and is tied for the most aces in a match with eight. In 2019, she was named First Team All-Big West and an AVCA Third Team All-American, just the seventh in program history.
After coming back this season from a devastating knee injury that forced her to miss the 2021 season, Dvoracek returned this year to be fifth in the Big West in kills per set, lead the Big West and rank fourth in the nation in aces, and lead the team and rank 10th in the Big West in digs.
