Mustangs Collect Five Wins at Day One of UCSB Classic

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. — Competing in the first day of the UCSB Classic in Santa Barbara, the Cal Poly men's tennis team collected five wins Friday to start off the tournament.
Competing in Flight A Singles, redshirt junior Joe Leather picked up a 6-3, 4-6, 6-2 win over UCLA's Stefan Leustian.
In Flight A Doubles, Leather and his partner, sophomore Bastiaan Weststrate, defeated UCLA's Leustian and Visaya, 8-6.
In Flight B Singles, freshman Zachary Pellouchoud beat Thibaud Maxant of Saint Mary's in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4.
In Flight B Doubles, junior Carter Crookston and redshirt junior Ben Keyser took down New Mexico's Aram Noroozian and Daniil Kakhniuk 8-7 (7-5).
In Flight C Singles, Crookston beat Westmont College's Logan Thompson in three sets, 6-2, 3-6, 6-1.
Day two of action continues for the Mustangs Saturday.
