SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. -- Cal Poly's football games this fall can be heard on a third radio station.
KRKC in King City, covering the Salinas Valley, has been added to the Mustang Radio Network from Learfield for the 11 Mustang football games. ESPN Radio, 1280 AM and 101.7 FM, serves as the flagship station. KRKC Country is located at 101.5 and 104.9 FM as well as 1490 AM.
ESPN Radio, 1280 AM and 101.7 FM, serves as the flagship station. ESPN Radio began broadcasting Cal Poly baseball games in the spring of 2005, then added football, men's basketball and broadcasts of other selected sports events to its Central Coast schedule starting in the fall of 2007.
ESPN's 15th full season as the flagship station for Cal Poly athletics begins Saturday as the Mustangs open their 2021 football season at the University of San Diego. Kickoff inside Torero Stadium is set for 1 p.m., with the ESPN 1280 pregame show to begin at 12:30 p.m.
Zachary Anderson-Yoxsimer will handle play-by-play duties this season with Stephan Hodges providing commentary. A link for an audio stream of each broadcast is available on the football schedule page at www.GoPoly.com.
KRKC also will broadcast the pregame and postgame segments.
Nine of Cal Poly's 11 football games also will be video streamed through the Big Sky Conference's agreement with ESPN+. Chrls Sylvester will call the play-by-play with John Kane serving as an analyst.
Mustang fans must subscribe to ESPN+ for $5.99 each month to view the video stream of Cal Poly football games.
The Big West Conference also has signed up with ESPN+ to stream many other Mustang sports events such as men's and women's basketball, baseball and softball.
For the time being while the switch is being made, events involving Cal Poly's fall sports teams other than football -- men's and women's soccer along with women's volleyball -- will be streamed free of charge on Sidearm Sports.
To view the stream, Mustang fans should click the "Watch" link on the sports' schedule page at www.GoPoly.com, which takes you to the Cal Poly All-Access watch portal.
Next, click "Sign Up" in the upper right corner of the page, taking you to the Cal Poly Free Trial page. By clicking "Purchase Now", you will be brought to a page where you will enter your name, email, password, and other necessary account info. You do not need to enter any form of credit card information.
