Cal Poly Women’s Tennis Drops Saturday Contest at UCSB

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. — The Cal Poly women's tennis team dropped just its second match of the season Saturday, falling on the road 0-4 to UC Santa Barbara.
The Gauchos (9-3, 8-0 BWC), who stayed unbeaten in Big West play this year, started the match by taking the doubles point over the Mustangs (11-2, 5-2 BWC) after they picked up wins at the No. 2 and No. 1 spots.
In singles, UCSB pushed their lead to 2-0 after a straight sets win at the No. 1 spot over Cal Poly's Dominique Stone, who returned to the lineup after missing the last few matches.
That was followed up with a straight sets win at the No. 3 spot and a straight sets win at the No. 2 spot to seal the victory for UCSB.
Despite the loss, Cal Poly remains tied with Cal State Fullerton for second place in the Big West standings.
The Mustangs will wrap up the regular season next Saturday, April 24 on the road at UC Riverside at 10 a.m.
