Mustangs Drop Sunday Road Contest At LMU

LOS ANGELES — Redshirt sophomore Gary Vardanyan (pictured) picked up his second singles win of the season, but the Cal Poly men's tennis fell to Loyola Marymount University Sunday in Los Angeles 1-4.
Vardanyan improved his singles record so far this season to 2-1 after defeating the Lions' (1-1) Thien Nguyen in straight sets 7-5, 6-4 at the No. 5 spot in the lineup.
LMU took the doubles point after winning all three doubles matches.
In singles, the Lions got wins at the Nos. 1, 6, and 3 positions to seal the 4-1 over the Mustangs (1-2).
Cal Poly, which is in the midst of playing its first seven matches of the season on the road, will next travel to face Saint Mary's on Thursday, Feb. 11 at 2 p.m.
