Mustangs Blank Fresno Pacific 7-0 Sunday Behind Dominant Team Performance

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — Behind a complete effort by the entire team, the Cal Poly women's tennis team shut out Fresno Pacific 7-0 Sunday at Mustang Tennis Complex to remain unbeaten this season.

The Mustangs (3-0) started the match by winning the doubles point after winning on all three courts over the Sunbirds (1-4).

Cal Poly's No. 2 doubles duo of redshirt freshmen Delanie Dunkle and Melissa LaMette (pictured) got the first win of the afternoon with a dominant 6-0 win to record their first win this season. That was followed shortly thereafter by the No. 3 pairing of redshirt freshman Dominique Stone and redshirt junior MacKenzie Worsnop also earning a 6-0 victory to improve to a perfect 3-0 this year. At the No. 1 spot, the Mustang duo of redshirt sophomores Emily Ackerman and Kim Bhunu battled to get a 7-5 win to also remain undefeated this season at 3-0.

In singles, Stone made quick work at the No. 1 spot in the lineup, winning 6-0, 6-1 to improve to 2-1 this season.

Ackerman then followed with a dominant win of her own at the No. 5 position, 6-1, 6-0 to move her record this season to a perfect 3-0.

The match win was later clinched after freshman Shreya Ravilla picked up her first career win as a Mustang at the No. 6 spot, 6-1, 6-1.

Bhunu kept her perfect record this season intact after getting a 6-1, 6-0 victory from the No. 2 position in the lineup to move to 3-0

Dunkle also improved to 3-0 this season in singles after a 6-3, 6-2 win at the No. 4 spot.

LaMette completed the 7-0 victory for Cal Poly with a 6-3, 6-4 win at the No. 3 spot to also move to 3-0 this year. She is also now. Combined 11-0 in singles in her Mustang career after an 8-0 record in last year's abbreviated season.

The Mustangs will hit the road for the first time this season next weekend when they travel north to face Sacramento State on Saturday and UC Davis on Sunday.
