SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. -- After earning a pair of second-place finishes in Colorado, Cal Poly freshman Kaylyn Noh has been selected as the Big West Conference Women's Golfer of the Month for October.
A graduate of Rocklin High School, Noh carded back-to-back 68s to climb from 62nd place after the first round to a runner-up finish in the Ron Moore Intercollegiate. Noh carded 15 birdies over 54 holes to tie for second in the field of 87 women.
At the Ptarmigan Ram Classic 10 days later, Noh's 69 was the only sub-70 round of the event. It came in her final 18 as she jumped from 16th to a second overall finish. She closed with 10 birdies, and a 3-under total on the par 4s, second in the field.
Noh's performances helped Cal Poly win team titles in both tournaments, claiming consecutive tournament victories for the fourth time in program history.
Noh also placed fourth in the season-opening Hobble Creek Fall Classic, giving her three top-five finishes in her first four collegiate tournaments. She averaged 72.7 strokes over 12 rounds in the fall with four rounds in the 60s and six rounds of par or better.
Cal Poly completed the fall season with the back-to-back wins in Colorado and, after some time off, will get ready for the spring season, which begins Feb. 7-8 with the Valley Invitational at the Bakersfield Country Club.
