FIRST-ROUND RESULTS
HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. -- Nicole Neale and Kamille Dimayuga both carded under-par rounds to lead Cal Poly to the No. 4 spot on the leaderboard at the Ron Moore Intercollegiate on Friday.
On the 6,415-yard par-72 Highlands Ranch Golf Course, Neale posted a 69 and is tied for fourth place with five other golfers. Dimayuga added a 70 to share 10th place with four others.
Neale's round included four birdies and one bogey. She started on the 10th tee and bogeyed her second hole of the day, then played four under par over her last 16 holes.
Dimayuga also recorded four birdies and bogeyed a pair of holes.
Also scoring for Cal Poly were Caroline Cantlay with an even-par 72 for 19th place, Kaylyn Noh with a 76 for 62nd place, and Jensen Jalufka with a 77 for 66th place.
Individual leader after 18 holes is Holly Muse of East Tennessee State with a seven-under-par 65, the best round in the tournament in at least six years. Muse notched an eagle, seven birdies and a pair of bogeys.
Muse is three shots ahead of Alyson Bean of host Denver and Sera Hasegawa of East Tennessee State, who share second place with 68s. Six golfers are tied for fourth place with 69s.
East Tennessee State compiled a 14-stroke advantage over Denver in the opening round. East Tennessee State is at 17-uunder-par 271 while Denver posted a 285. Grand Canyon is third at 286 while Cal Poly and San Francisco are another stroke back at 287.
Neale is second in par-3 scoring at two under par and also is No. 2 in par-4 scoring at two under par. Dimayuga made her mark on the longer holes and is fifth in par-5 scoring at three under par.
Cantlay's 14 pars are fifth in the field of 87 golfers.
Second round will be played Saturday with the final round on Sunday.
