SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — Cal Poly head beach volleyball coach Todd Rogers will join Tuesday evening's Mustang Insider Show, broadcasting on ESPN Radio 1280 AM/101.7 FM, starting at 5 p.m. on April 21.
Coach Rogers will discuss numerous topics, including looking back on this year's start to the season, which saw the Mustangs ascend to No. 5 in the national AVCA Top 25 rankings.
He'll also discuss Cal Poly's newly inaugurated state-of-the-art Beach Volleyball Complex, where the squad defeated a pair of top-10 opponents on Feb. 29 at the first Center of Effort Beach Volleyball Challenge.
Cal Poly, defending Big West champions, had been looking to return to the NCAA Tournament following last May's trip as one of only eight teams around the country in the national championships on ESPNU.
Out to a 7-2 start to the 2020 season, the Mustangs were gaining momentum in early March prior to the cancellation of the remainder of the schedule, as on March 9, juniors Tia Miric and Mariah Whalen were selected as Conference Pairs Team of the Week, the program's second such accolade in a row following senior Emily Sonny and sophomore Jayelin Lombard picking up the honor for March 2.
Chris Sylvester will host the twice-weekly, hour-long show running from 5 to 6 p.m. (recorded from ESPN 1280 Studios in San Luis Obispo), bringing Cal Poly fans interviews, news and entertainment from the Mustang sports world.
Coach Rogers, a 2008 Olympic gold medalist, will also offer his thoughts on the postponement of the Tokyo Games to 2021. Tuesday's show will also include a trivia segment, with prizes awarded, and an interview with former Cal Poly football wide receiver J.J. Koski centering on the upcoming NFL Draft!
Fans are also able to re-listen to the shows after they first air, in a podcast format with the ability to subscribe at THIS LINK, or via GoPoly.com HERE.
Upcoming shows will also include segments with several additional Mustang head coaches, as well as more interviews with student-athletes and alumni, sponsor spotlights, and more.
