
Inskeep, Connor Named Big West Pair of the Week; Mustangs Move up to No. 3 in Latest Rankings

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. — For the second time this season, Cal Poly beach volleyball duo Erin Inskeep and Ella Connor have been named the Big West Pair of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.
Also released Tuesday were the latest AVCA rankings which saw the Mustangs move back up one spot to No. 3 in the poll.
Over the weekend, Inskeep and Connor went a perfect 4-0 at the No. 1 spot in the lineup at the Mustang Roundup without dropping a set. They helped Cal Poly also go 4-0 as a team and improve to 14-2 on the season and stretch the team’s win streak to nine matches. The Mustangs beat No. 19 Arizona, No. 17 GCU, Oregon, and Santa Clara all in sweep fashion by scores of 5-0.
Inskeep and Connor are now 15-1 as a pair this season. For Inskeep, she reached 75 career wins Saturday after beating Santa Clara. Connor currently sits at 95 career wins, just seven away from breaking the program record for career victories.
With the strong weekend, the Mustangs also saw their national ranking move up one spot to No. 3 this week. The Mustangs began the season ranked No. 3 in the AVCA rankings. Cal Poly is only behind No. 1 UCLA and No. 2 Stanford.
Cal Poly will look to extend its win streak this weekend at the Big West Challenge in Long Beach. There, they will face all six other Big West teams, including No. 11 Long Beach State and No. 13 Hawai’i.
Friday, the No. 3 Mustangs will face UC Davis at 9:10 a.m., No. 13 Hawai’i at 1:50 p.m. and CSUN at 5:20 p.m. Then on Saturday, Cal Poly takes on Cal State Bakersfield at 8 a.m., No. 11 Long Beach State at 11:30 a.m., and Sacramento State at 3 p.m.
