
Mustangs Men's Tennis Takes Down Undefeated Nevada

LOS ANGELES — No. 44 Cal Poly men's tennis defeated the undefeated Nevada Wolfpack Saturday at Loyola Marymount in a dual match. The match leaves Cal Poly at 7-4 and Nevada at 6-1.
This win came after a tough loss to LMU the previous day. Associate head coach Garrett Patton said, "I'm very proud of our resilient guys who bounced back after a tough loss to LMU to beat a really good Nevada team."
Cal Poly lost the doubles point but prevailed in singles.
Freshmen Andrew Whitehouse and Roman Skenkiyrk lost to Peter O'Donovan and Augustin Delahodde 6-2 first.
Next, junior Dominic Bechard and senior Karl Enander lost to Robert Margitifalvi and Jeremy Merville 7-5.
Junior Josh Ortlip and senior Axel Damiens played Julien Evrard and Kostya Nesterenko on court one but did not finish.
In singles, sophomore Antoine Noel finished first defeating Nesterenko 6-3, 6-0 for the Mustang's first point.
Ortlip then lost to Evrard 6-1 and 7-5, putting Nevada up 2-1.
Cal Poly went on a run defeating the rest of the Wolfpack to secure the win. Stater defeated Delahodde 6-4, 6-2. Bechard defeated Margitifalvi in three sets 6-3, 3-6, 6-0. Damiens defeated Merville 6-2, 7-6. Finally, Whitehoue secured the win defeating O'Donovan 6-3, 3-6, 6-3.
The Mustangs begin a six-match homestand next weekend, starting with a dual match on Friday against Santa Clara. The match starts at 1 p.m. at Mustang Courts.
