SEATTLE — Cal Poly juniors Danielle Bryan and Kendal Nielsen posted the top marks by collegians in their respective events on Saturday, leading the Mustang women's team on the second day of the UW Indoor Track and Field Invitational in Dempsey Arena.
Bryan, a top-15 NCAA West Regional high jumper last outdoor season, cleared 5 feet, 8 inches — a new indoor PR — to come in third place overall. She tied with Washington State sophomore Kiana Davis, who also got over the bar at that height on her second try before not being able to advance.
The top two performances throughout the field of 29 were turned in by former UCSB star Barbara Nwaba (at 6 feet), now representing the Santa Barbara Track Club, and UC San Diego alumna Linda Rainwater (5-10), from the Movin' Shoes club.
Nielsen, also looking for a return trip to the regional stage and beyond come next postseason, bounded to a triple-jump mark of 39-11.5 (also an indoor PR) on her sixth and final attempt.
Out of the 28 total athletes there, she trailed only the 42-11 put up by Blessing Ufodiama (competing unattached) and the 40-4.75 from Chinne Okoronkwo (with the Flying AJs club of nearby Federal Way, Wash.).
Another top-10 showing was had by Cal Poly junior Mishe' Scott, who placed eighth in the long jump, at 17-6.75 (via her second run at it), farther than 18 others.
Scott also posted a sixth-place qualifying 60-meter dash time of 7.75 seconds (winning Heat 6 in the prelims), slightly ahead of sophomore teammate Daijah Joe-Smith (in 12th at 7.80).
Additionally, junior Ashley Windsor ran to a 12th-place (out of 51) mile time of 4:47.17; sophomore Molly Haar was fifth (among 22 runners) in her section of the 3,000, at 9:52.35; while freshman Kiely Osby had the sixth-best shot put effort in the top flight, 43-1.75.

Cal Poly will return to the Pacific Northwest at the Husky Classic, held at the same venue, on Feb. 13-14.
