SEATTLE — Cal Poly's Jessica Davis had a PR in the 60-meter hurdles, and fellow sophomore Daijah Joe-Smith raced in the 200 as the Mustangs opened the women's indoor track and field season at the UW Invitational in Dempsey Arena on Friday.
To begin the pentathlon, Davis (shown at right in a file photo from 2014) won her heat in 9.19 seconds, 0.63 faster than her top time from a year ago.
She also earned the day's eight-best shot-put mark — 30 feet, 5.75 inches — on the way to an overall 11th-place finish among the field of 18 competitors, compiling 3,123 points.
Later on, Joe-Smith finished 24th out of 42 in her sprint, at 26.06.
Events will resume at 10 a.m. Saturday, lasting through 5:30. Live results can be followed HERE.
