Price, De Los Santos Finish in Top 20 at Sea Best Invitational

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. -- Sophomore Cam Price and freshman Justin De Los Santos both finished in the top 20 for the Cal Poly men's golf team Tuesday at the Sea Best Invitational hosted by Jacksonville University at TPC Sawgrass - THE PLAYERS Stadium.
Price (pictured at right) completed his suspended second round with a brilliant 69, matching the lowest score of the first and second rounds by any of the 84 golfers on the 6,977-yard, par-72 course. He then followed with a 73 in Tuesday's third round for a six-over-par 222 total and a tie for fifth place.
De Los Santos lowered his score round by round, opening with an 81 Monday, completing his second round with a 74 Tuesday morning and posting a final-round 71 for a 10-over-par 226 total and a tie for 16th place.
Cal Poly, which carded a 322 in the first round Monday, posted back-to-back 305s to finished with a 932 total and 12th place in the 16-team field.
North Florida and Liberty both carded 22-over-par 886 totals, and Liberty was declared team champion based on its lower score in the final round, 297 to 304. Texas A&M was third at 900, followed by Tennessee at 904 and South Carolina Upstate at 915.
There also was a tie for medalist honors as Austin Padova of North Florida and Greg Yates of Texas A&M, competing as an individual, finished with even-par 216 totals. Ben Crancer of Texas A&M and Niklas Lindstrom of Liberty shared third place, two strokes back.
Cal Poly's Cole Nygren finished in a tie for 57th place with a final-round 79 and a 240 total while Alex Romo finished alone in 67th place with a final-round 82 for a 244 total. Rounding out Cal Poly's quintet was Jordan Wright with a final-round 85 for a 252 total and a tie for 76th place.
Coach Scott Cartwright's Mustangs return to action Feb. 21-13 at the Wyoming Cowboy Desert Classic, to be held at The Classic Club in Palm Desert, Calif.
