Egnatios the Co-Leader and Cal Poly Fifth after 36 Holes at Windon Memorial

LAKE FOREST, Ill. – Playing just his second collegiate tournament, Cal Poly men’s golf freshman Frederick Egnatios (above) enters Tuesday’s final round at Northwestern’s Windon Memorial as the co-leader after firing a five-under 135 during Monday’s opening 36 holes.
At the 6,716-yard, par-70 Onwentsia Club, Egnatios followed a morning 65 that included five birdies, just one bogey and an eagle on the 520-yard, par-five third hole with an afternoon 70 for his five-under 135. He shares top spot with South Florida’s Nino Palmquist with the pair leading two others by a single stroke enter Tuesday’s finale.
Mustang senior Jack Jarvis and sophomore Vidur Subramaniam (right) share 23rd position with dual one-over 141s. Subramaniam posted a morning two-under 68 with four birdies and an eagle of the 367-yard, par-four sixth before finishing with a second-round 73 (that included a second eagle). Jarvis, meanwhile, was two over in the morning before recording a one-under 69 in round two that included four birdies.
Sophomore Rafael Bobo-Lloret is 51st with a five-over 145. Recording four birdies in each round, Bobo-Lloret closed with a second-round 71. Freshman Leo McDonough is two shots behind after firing an afternoon 73 that comprised five birdies.
As a team, Cal Poly shares fifth place alongside Charlotte with a collective two-over 562. The pair trail overall leader Kansas by just six strokes entering a final round that gets underway Tuesday at 4:30 a.m. PT.
