
Cal Poly Finishes 10th in Wyoming Cowboy Desert Intercollegiate

PALM DESERT, Calif. -- The Cal Poly men's golf team finished in 10th place in the 23-team Wyoming Cowboy Desert Intercollegiate, which concluded a three-day run Sunday on the Troon Course at The Classic Club.
Coach Scott Cartwright's Mustangs carded a four-person final-round three-under-par 285 total for a 54-hole one-over-par 865 aggregate.
Oregon claimed the team title with a 27-under-par 837 total, followed by Colorado at 840 and Idaho and Texas Christian, both with 849 totals.
Cal Poly's top finisher in the individual standings was freshman Mitchell Martin, who posted a final-round 69 for a three-under-par 213 total and a tie for 19th place. He began the final round in 36th place.
Sophomore Cole Nygren (pictured at right) also carded a final-round 69. In 92nd place after the first day and 50th on the second day, Nygren finished in a tie for 31st place with his one-under-par 215 total.
Freshman Justin De Los Santos finished in a tie for 42nd place with a final-round 74 and a 217 total while Jordan Wright claimed 75th place with his 224 total after posting a 73 Sunday.
Cam Price checked in with a 74 for a 225 total and a 79th-place tie.
Julien Brun of Texas Christian recorded a final-round 65 to win the tournament by five strokes. He finished at 13-under-par 203, followed by Sulman Raza of Oregon (208) and Ryan Porch of Idaho and Ryann Ree of Oregon, each with 209 totals.
Cal Poly returns to action March 10-11 at the Fresno State Lexus Classic, to be played at the Belmont Country Club.
