
De Los Santos, Wright Help Cal Poly Climb Five Spots in Final Round

FT. COLLINS, Colo. -- Freshman Justin De Los Santos and sophomore Jordan Wright both carded 68s in the final round to lift Cal Poly into a seventh-place team finish in the Ram Masters Invitational hosted by Colorado State on Tuesday at the Ft. Collins Country Club.
Wright, who tied the school record in Monday's opening round with a 64 on the 7,212-yard, par-70 course, finished with a four-under-par 206 total and third place. He entered the final round in a tie for second place.
Oakar Arvidsson of Denver, who shot a final-round 64, and Cameron Harrell of Colorado State, with a 67, finished as co-medalists with six-under-par 204 totals, two strokes ahead of Wright.
De Los Santos, who began the final round tied for 58th place, used his 68 to finish with a 218 total and climbed into a tie for 27th place in his first collegiate tournament.
Wright posted three birdies and a bogey Tuesday while De Los Santos recorded four birdies and a pair of bogeys.
Mustang sophomore Cam Price (pictured at right) carded a final-round 70 for a 217 total and a tie for 24th place while freshman Court Lewis was Cal Poly's final scoring golfer, posting a 71 for a 227 total and 64th place.
Sophomore Cole Nygren had a final-round 78 and finished with a 229 total for 75th place.
Cal Poly's four-person final-round 277 total was the second-best team score of the day and lifted the Mustangs five spots from 12th place with a 23-over-par 863 total.
Denver won the event with an 847 total, the Pioneers carding the best score of the day with a 272, followed by Colorado State at 848 and Nevada at 854. There were 15 schools in the two-day, 54-hole event.
Coach Scott Cartwright's Mustangs return to action this weekend, hosting the Firestone Grill Cal Poly Invitational at Monarch Dunes. Two rounds will be played Saturday, with the final round on Sunday.
