
Cal Poly Men's Golf Finishes 15th in Fresno State Lexus Classic

FRESNO, Calif. – Freshman Cole Nygren finished in the top 25 and the Cal Poly men's golf team settled for 15th place, moving one spot higher, following the final round of play in the Fresno State Lexus Classic on Tuesday at the Belmont Country Club.
Nygren carded a final-round 74 on the par-72 course to finish at even par 216 for 54 holes, placing in a tie for 24th place. His score helped Coach Scott Cartwright's Mustangs finish with a five-person three-round 34-over-par 1,114 total in the 17-team field.
California posted a 43-under-par 1,037 total to capture the team title, followed by Fresno State at 1,074 and Brigham Young at 1,075.
Individual winner was Michael Kim of Cal with a 16-under-par 200 total, posting rounds of 68, 65 and 67. He finished six strokes ahead of Bears teammate Brandon Hagy, with Michael Weaver, also of Cal, finishing third at 207.
Cal Poly's Grant Martens carded a final-round 75 for a 224 total and 63rd place while Camden Price finished with a 75 as well for a 225 total and 68th place.
Other Cal Poly scores were a 77 by Scott Patterson for a 227 total and 81st place, a 75 by Alex Romo for a 230 total and 93rd place and a 69 by Justin Haley (pictured above) for a 234 total and 100th place.
Cal Poly returns to action March 28-29 by hosting the Cypress Ridge Match Play Championship.
