
Trio of Cal Poly Wrestlers Claim Titles in California Collegiate Open

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. -- Cal Poly wrestlers Devon Lotito, Kyle Chené and Sean Dougherty captured individual titles at the California Collegiate Open hosted by San Francisco State on Saturday.
Lotito (pictured at right) won two matches by fall and two more by decision, including an 8-3 nod over Isaiah Hurtado of San Francisco State, for the championship at 133 pounds. Lotito is now 27-7 in his freshman season at Cal Poly.
Chené won all four of his matches by decision, including one major, en route to the 157-pound crown. Chené, 18-9 for the year, earned a 3-2 decision over Nick Schlager of Oregon State for the title.
Dougherty elevated his record to 21-9 with a fall, a major decision, a technical fall and a 3-2 decision over John Tuck of Oregon State in the championship match at 184 pounds.
Other Mustangs to place in Saturday's day-long non-scoring tournament included Britain Longmire, third at 125 pounds, and Blake Kastl, fourth at 149 pounds.
Mitchell Lofstedt of Southern Oregon was named outstanding wrestler of the tournament, claiming the 125-pound title with two falls and a decision, while teammate Prescott Garner claimed the most pins in least time award with three falls in 13 minutes, 15 seconds.
Cal Poly wrestling, presented by Meathead Movers, returns to action next weekend with Pac-12 dual meets at Oregon State on Friday and Boise State on Sunday.
