
Cal Poly Wrestlers Fall to Oregon State, 50-0, in Pac-12 Dual

CORVALLIS, Oregon -- Oregon State parlayed three falls, a pair of major decisions and three forfeits into a 50-0 victory over Cal Poly in a Pac-12 Conference dual wrestling meet Friday night in Gill Coliseum.
Cal Poly fell to 2-8 and 0-4 with the loss while Oregon State, ranked Nos. 8, 9 and 11 in various polls this week, improved to 9-3 and 4-1.
Closest match was at 125 pounds as Cal Poly's Britain Longmire (pictured at right) and Oregon State's Joey Palmer went into overtime tied at 6-6 before Palmer scored a takedown in the sudden-victory period for an 8-6 decision.
Palmer overcame a 6-3 deficit with an escape and takedown in the second period and neither wrestler scored in the third period, forcing overtime.
At 184 pounds, Mustang Sean Dougherty scored reversals in the second and third periods to close to within 5-4, but Beaver Ty Vinson held on for the one-point decision.
Cal Poly forfeited at 133, 174 and 285 pounds.
Coach Brendan Buckley's Mustangs wrestle another Pac-12 dual Sunday afternoon at Boise State.
