
Cal Poly Climbs to Sixth Place in Final Round of Bill Cullum Invitational

SIMI VALLEY, Calif. -- Sophomore Camden Price carded a final-round 71 to help the Cal Poly men's golf team climb one more spot into a sixth-place finish in the Bill Cullum Invitational on Tuesday at the Wood Ranch Golf Club.
Price (pictured at right) posted a career-best even-par 216 total, carding a 74 and 72 on Monday, and finished in a tie for 19th place with three other golfers. Mitch Martin recorded a final-round 73 for a 217 total and 23rd place while Cole Nygren carded a 72 for a 218 aggregate and 29th place.
Completing Cal Poly's scoring were Justin De Los Santos with a final-round 76 for a 223 total and 50th place, and Jordan Wright with a 78 for a 231 total and 80th place.
Competing as an individual, Brandon Shaw shot 84 Tuesday, finishing with a 237 and 93rd place.
De Los Santos finished second in par-5 scoring at minus-8, including one eagle. Price was tied for fourth with his 13 birdles.
As a team, Coach Scott Cartwright's Mustangs carded a four-person, 54-hole, 10-over-par 874 total, including a final-round 292.
Cal State Fullerton posted a final-round 281 to capture the team title with a 15-under-par 849 total, one stroke ahead of second-round leader San Diego. At 11-under-par, third-place Arizona State was the only other school in the 20-team field to finish under par.
Other Big West schools in the field besides Cal State Fullerton and Cal Poly were No. 4 UC Santa Barbara, No. 7 UC Irvine, No. 7 Long Beach State, No. 9 Hawaii and No. 11 Cal State Northridge.
Top individual honors went to Daniel Chian of Long Beach State with rounds of 72, 68 and 66 for a 10-under-par 206 total. One stroke behind Chian were Jon Rahm of Arizona State and Mark Anguiano of Cal State Fullerton. Grant Forrest of San Diego was fourth at 209.
Cal Poly concludes its fall season Nov. 4-6 at the Warrior Princeville Makai Invitational hosted by Hawaii at the Makai Golf Club on the island of Kauai.
