No. 62 Cal Poly Men's Tennis Upsets No. 50 Fresno State, 4-1

FRESNO, Calif. – The Cal Poly men's tennis team upset No. 50 Fresno State in a nonconference men's tennis match on Sunday at the Spalding G. Wathen Tennis Center on Sunday. Cal Poly entered the match ranked 62nd and improved to 2-0 on the 2013 season while Fresno State fell to 0-2.
Competition opened with Fresno State winning the doubles point when they took two of the three matches. The Mustangs opened on a strong note with seniors Andre Dome and Jordan Bridge dominating 8-1 over Reid deLaubenfels and Nikolas Papic. But Cal Poly would fall in on the second and third courts with Sam McNeil and Jeremy Quioz defeating Matt Thomson and Jordan Kepler, 8-5, on the second court and Sai Kartik and Felipe Fritz defeating Marco Comuzzo and Juren De Jager, 8-6, on the third court.
The Mustangs got it going in singles play with Bridge defeating McNeil, 6-1, 6-4, on the third court and Comuzzo defeating Quioz, 6-1, 6-4, on the second court.
Dome, ranked No. 89, defeated deLaubenfel, 6-3, 6-7 and 6-2 defeated on the first court to give Cal Poly a 3-1 lead.
Sophomore Naveen Beasley sealed the win from the sixth court when he defeated Papic, 6-4, 5-7 and 6-2. Beasley won the first set 6-4, but fell 7-5 in the second. He rebounded in dominating fashion Papic in the third, 6-2.
