
Mustangs Remain Hot, Defeat Princeton 6-1

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – The Cal Poly men's tennis team continued its hot play with a 6-1 non-conference win over Princeton on the Mustang Courts on Tuesday afternoon. With the win the Mustangs improve to 10-4 overall while Princeton falls to 7-8.
The Mustangs will return to the courts on Friday, March 23, when the team plays a neutral match against 17th-ranked Washington in Malibu.
For the Mustangs, it was the team's 10th win in 11 matches.
The day opened with the Mustangs sweeping the doubles point. Brian McPhee and Jordan Bridge made quick work of Dan Davies and Augie Bloom on the second court with an 8-3 win.
Marco Comuzzo and Jurgen De Jager secured the point with an 8-6 win over Yohei Shoji and Michael Lin on the third court.
The featured doubles match of the day took place on the first court with Andre Dome and Matt Fawcett upsetting the 34th-ranked doubles team of Matt Spindler and Matt Siow, 8-5.
Singles play got under way with Dome, ranked 25th in the nation, defeating Matija Pecotic, ranked 44th, in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2, on the first court.
Comuzzo gave the Mustangs a 3-0 advantage with a 6-2, 2-6 and 6-1 win on the fifth court over Dan Richardson.
De Jager secured the win for Cal Poly on the sixth court with a straight set, 6-4, 6-2, win over Matt Siow.
Play wrapped up with Fawcett and McPhee picking up wins on courts three and two for the Mustangs.
Princeton picked up its lone win on the fourth court with Agie Bloom defeating Bridge.
