
No. 66 Cal Poly Falls at Seventh-Ranked UCLA, 7-0

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The No. 66 Mustang women's tennis program saw its four-match winning streak snapped on Monday afternoon as seventh-ranked UCLA – Cal Poly's third ranked opponent this season – produced a 7-0 sweep at the Los Angeles Tennis Center.
Cal Poly (5-3), which entered the match having claimed the doubles point during 23 of its previous 30 matches, won just 10 total points from UCLA (6-2). At No. 1, UCLA's Courtney Dolehide and Carling Seguso downed junior Amy Markhoff and sophomore Ashley Pane (above), 8-3, before McCall Jones and Noelle Hickey trumped Mustang senior Ashley Pane and junior Jocelyn Davis, 8-4. UCLA finalized the doubles whitewash at No. 3 as Andrea Remynse and Nina Pantic topped the Cal Poly freshman partnership of Florence Lehane and Gabrielle Gatewood, 8-3.
In singles play, Lee enjoyed the finest effort by any Mustang, but dropped a 6-2, 6-7(4), (12-10) decision versus the 90th-ranked Jones. Hickey, rated No. 96 nationally, topped Pane at No. 2, 6-2, 6-0, before the 58th-Remynse dealt Mustang freshman Margarita Spicin at 6-0, 6-2 defeat. Bruin Maya Johansson bested Lehane at No. 4, 6-2, 6-3, before the 118th-ranked Seguso bettered Mustang freshman Jennifer Cornea, 6-1, 6-3. At No. 6, Davis suffered a 7-5, 6-1 setback versus Pantic.
Cal Poly continues its five-match road swing with a 1:30 p.m. dual at Santa Clara on Saturday, Feb. 19.
