2013-14 – As a true freshman, compiled 18-11 record with seven falls, a pair of technical falls and one major decision … quickest fall of season was in 1 minute, 37 seconds, against Hunter Morrison of Sierra College in Bill Musick Open en route to individual title … also placed third in San Francisco State Under-21 Open and was 3-2 in Roadrunner Open and Reno Tournament of Champions … posted 4-2 mark in California Collegiate Open, missing placement by one victory … 1-4 in dual meets, beating Peter Russo of Stanford 9-2 … competed at 133 pounds in November and December before moving up to 141 pounds in January and February.
High School -- Trujillo is a two-time California state meet place winner, finishing sixth as a junior at 120 pounds and fifth as a senior at 126 pounds, under head coach Nick Saldivar at Bella Vista High School in Fair Oaks ... earned 145 varsity wins ... also was a two-time NHSCA All-American with a fifth-place finish in the senior nationals and seventh at the sophomore nationals ... a Cadet freestyle state champion in 2010 and finished third in the Greco state junior division in 2012 ... was president of school's Chess Club ... chose Cal Poly over Menlo College because it is "one of the best schools in California and by the beach."
