Four-time All-America selection and 2008 Olympic silver medalist Jen Tamas is in her second year as a volunteer assistant with the Cal Poly volleyball program.
Tamas arrived at Cal Poly in 2013 following an eight-year professional career split between five countries (Japan, Italy, Russia, Azerbaijan and Puerto Rico). As a middle blocker with the United States Women’s National Team, Tamas made more than 60 appearances in eight years while serving as captain for your years. Aside from assisting the U.S. to silver at the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics, Tamas helped lift the country to gold at the 2012 Pan-American Cup.
The 2003 Big West Conference Player of the Year and 2000 Big West Freshman of the Year selection at Pacific (2000-03), Tamas remains second in conference history in block assists (553), third in kills (2,225) and total blocks (639), fourth in kills per set (4.89) and sixth in attacking attempts (4,615). Her 175 block assists in 2001 still stand as a single season Big West record.
With Tamas in the lineup, Pacific reached the NCAA Tournament each year.
A native of Santa Clara, Calif., Tamas arrived at Cal Poly with her husband, Chris Tamas – a Mustang assistant coach and both a United States Men’s National Team and Pacific standout – in 2013. Tamas earned communications and business degrees from Pacific.
