He earned Cal-Hi Sports Medium Schools All-State Third Team honors and was named the Conejo Coast League Offensive Lineman of the Year following his senior season. Johnston appeared in 32 varsity games, added two blocked kicks during his prep career and helped anchor the Dons on both the offensive and defensive lines
