After serving two years as a backup quarterback (Chris Brown in 2015, Dano Graves in 2016) and earning the starting nod as a junior, enters final season at Cal Poly No. 1 on the preseason depth chart at quarterback this fall.
2017 -- Started the first five games at quarterback as a junior before missing the rest of his junior season due to injury ... finished the Idaho State game despite injury ... completed 28 of 66 passes for 597 yards and eight touchdowns ... 21.3 yards per completion among the leaders in the Big Sky ... threw four touchdown passes at Northern Iowa to spark Cal Poly's fourth-quarter comeback from a 14-point deficit ... career-high 238 yards passing versus Northern Iowa ... also threw pair of touchdowns against Idaho State ... rushed 96 times for 377 yards and four scores ... broke school record for rushing by a quarterback in a single game as he rushed for 202 yards on 25 carries at Idaho State, scoring on runs of 14 and 22 yards ... season-long 30-yard run at Idaho State and threw three passes of 50 or more yards, including a 65-yarder to Kyle Lewis for a touchdown ... also hit J.J. 2016 -- Played in five games as a sophomore ... attempted one pass in regular-season game against San Diego and rushed one time for two yards, also against the Toreros ... also played in Nevada, Portland State and Northern Colorado games as well as in the playoff contest against San Diego ... completed three of seven passes for 71 yards, including a 54-yard scoring strike to Kyle Lewis, in 2017 Spring Game ... also rushed 10 times for 17 yards, including a nine-yard romp early in scrimmage.
2015 -- Made one start and appeared in two other games as a true freshman at quarterback ... in start against Portland State completed three passes for 59 yards and rushed 16 times for 93 yards and one touchdown on a 50-yard run late in the first quarter ... rushed two times for four yards and attempted two passes late in Sacramento State game and did not rush or pass late in the season finale against North Dakota ... completed four of eight passes for 22 yards in 2016 Spring Game ... also called his number 14 times on rushing plays, breaking off positive yards on five plays but also sacked three times.
High School -- Under head coach John Morrison at Francis Parker High School in?San Diego, Jenkins rushed for 2,233 yards and 32 touchdowns while passing for 2,488 yards and 25 scores in his four-year varsity career ... as a senior, rushed 203 times for 1,206 yards and 14 touchdowns and completed 74 of 166 passes for 1,126 yards and nine scores, leading the Lancers to a 6-6 overall mark and the quarterfinal round of the CIF-San Diego Section Division III playoffs ... for good measure, made 55 tackles and intercepted a pass on defense ... among the awards earned by Jenkins are team MVP, Coastal League Player of the Year and first-team All-Coastal League ... also earned a spot on the CIF-San Diego Section All-Academic Team ... rushed 24 times for a career-high 231 yards and six touchdowns against Horizon, also making 10 tackles, blocking a punt and completing five of nine passes for 91 yards ... as a junior, rushed for 843 yards and 15 touchdowns, completed 78 of 144 passes for 1,233 yards and 15 scores and notched 45 tackles and four interceptions on defense en route to first-team All-Coastal League, Coastal Conference Player of the Year, National Football Foundation MVP and CIF-San Diego Section All-Academic Team honors ... in 46 career games, rushed 361 times for 2,233 yards, averaging 6.2 yards per carry, and completed 162 of 326 passes for 2,488 yards and 24 scores ... was intercepted just seven times ... produced 10 games of 100 yards or more on the ground and his career totals also include 208 tackles and nine interceptions ... as a sophomore was a wide receiver on offense, catching 29 passes for 521 yards and four touchdowns ... also lettered in basketball, helping Lancers to 78 wins and a pair of league titles over four varsity seasons ... inducted into Francis Parker School Hall of Fame ... member of Links Achievers and president of Chess Club ... was recruited by Duke, Harvard, Yale, Cornell, Boston College, Nevada and several Big Sky schools, choosing Cal Poly because it "has a great tradition in both the classroom as well as on the football field.
