After sharing fullback duties with Jordan Yocum last fall, enters fall camp as the No. 1 fullback in 2011, backed up by Akaninyene Umoh and Quentin Greenlaw ... named to Phil Steele’s Preseason All-Great West Conference first team as well as to Phil Steele’s Preseason All-American Third Team.
2010 -- Earned second-team All-Great West Conference honors after rushing for 459 yards and eight touchdowns in junior season ... the “Templeton Night Train” didn’t crack the 100-yard mark, but netted 81 yards in season opener against Humboldt State and 74 yards on 13 trips against Old Dominion ... finished season by scoring two touchdowns in each of the last three games against Saint Francis (Pa.), South Dakota and UC Davis ... longest rush of season was for 35 yards against Old Dominion for a touchdown, giving Mustangs insurmountable 50-30 lead with six minutes to play ... caught one pass for five yards in Old Dominion game.
2009 -- A first-team All-Great West Conference selection at fullback as a sophomore ... Cal Poly’s top rusher last fall with 492 yards on 107 carries, averaging 4.6 yards per rush ... scored twice on runs of 23 yards against Southern Utah and 42 yards against UC Davis also had a 38-yard non-scoring run against Dixie State ... also caught four passes for 18 yards, including two catches against South Dakota ... surpassed the century mark once with 108 yards on 24 carries against Southern Utah and came close in two other contests -- 96 yards on 19 trips against Dixie State and 91 yards on 16 carries against South Dakota ... returned three kickoffs a total of 40 yards ... played all 11 games with seven starts, including the final six contests.
2008 -- Played in five games, primarily as the backup at fullback ... six carries for 26 yards, including 21 yards on five trips against North Carolina Central ... longest run was seven yards ... also caught a pass for seven yards against North Carolina Central ... recorded six tackles on special teams, five of them solo stops ... two solo stops in Wisconsin game.
2007 -- Redshirt.
High School – As a defensive back, notched 97 tackles with one interception, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and a sack as Templeton High School, under head coach Don Crow, posted a 7-4 mark and earned a CIF-Southern Section playoff berth in its first season in the Los Padres League ... also a running back, rushing for 876 yards (8.4 average per carry) and eight touchdowns while catching 17 passes for 260 yards and a score ... earned first-team All-Los Padres League and All-San Luis Obispo County honors and second-team All-State accolades as an all-purpose player ... also was named offensive running back of the year, team captain and team MVP ... as a junior, Romanelli was a first-team All-East Sierra League defensive back and honorable mention All-San Luis Obispo County as the Eagles finished 11-1, captured the West Sierra League title and finished second in the CIF-Central Section playoffs ... also lettered in basketball as a freshman and sophomore ... also visited UNLV and Fresno State before choosing Cal Poly ... is the first football player at Templeton to earn a Division I scholarship directly out of high school.
