After a breakthrough season at fullback in 2019, moves to running back in Cal Poly's new offensive formation this fall.
2019 -- Cal Poly's 23rd 1,000-yard rusher as he netted 1,037 yards on 235 carries, scoring eight touchdowns ... averaged 4.4 yards per carry and 94.3 yards per game ... longest run was 87 yards down the right sideline for a touchdown on his first touch of the season against San Diego ... four 100-yard games, including season-high 173 yards against North Dakota ... also gained 172 yards in San Diego game, 137 at Oregon State and 135 at Northern Colorado ... season-high 40 carries in North Dakota game ... three times scored a pair of touchdowns (San Diego, Eastern Washington, Northern Colorado) ... one catch for two yards at Weber State ... named to All-Big Sky Conference second team and also earned a spot on Phil Steele's Big Sky second team and HERO Sports' sophomore All-American team.
2018 -- Played in four games as a backup fullback during redshirt freshman season ... rushed one time for four yards against Brown ... netted 19 yards on six carries in 2019 Spring Game.
2017 -- Redshirt ... 11 carries for 42 yards in 2018 Spring Game.
High School -- Tran-Sampson rushed for 5,054 yards and 41 touchdowns in his final three varsity seasons under head coach Jose "Coco" Jarin at Claremont High School ... gained 1,860 yards and 15 touchdowns as a senior, 1,669 yards and 12 touchdowns as a junior and 1,525 yards and 14 scores in his sophomore season ... averaged 6.9 yards per carry in his career ... in his senior season against Bonita, Tran-Sampson rushed for 435 yards and five touchdowns ... also gained 281 yards in the season opener against Norte Vista and 232 yards against Alta Loma ... postseason awards include a spot on the All-Palomares League first team as a sophomore, junior and senior ... Tran-Sampson had nine 100-yard games as a junior, including a season-high 261 yards against Bonita and 212 yards and five touchdowns against West Valley ... as a sophomore, he produced eight 100-yard games, including 234 yards against Salesian, 223 against San Marino and 206 versus South Hills en route to Daily Bulletin Inland Empire Newcomer of the Year honors ... also named to all-state second team ... Tran-Sampson also ran sprints on the track and field team with best marks of 10.92 in the 100 meters and 22.36 in the 200 meters, earning Palomares League titles in both events as a junior ... recruited by BYU, Cornell and Yale, Tran-Sampson decided on Cal Poly because of "its proximity to home, great campus environment and my relationship with the coaches."
