High School -- A wrestler and basketball player as well, Childress made 40 tackles (19 solo) as a junior in 2019 under head coach Jason McCloskey at Mountain House High School, located about five miles northwest of Tracy ... completed high school early and enrolled at Cal Poly for the 2021 Winter Quarter ... his numbers at Mountain House also included 2.5 tackles for lost yardage, all sacks, along with one quarterback hurry and four pass breakups ... Mustangs were 1-9 in 2019 ... as a sophomore during the 2018-19 junior varsity basketball season, Childress averaged 9.0 points and 6.2 rebounds ... also was a wrestler ... member of Black Student Union ... chose to attend Cal Poly "because the coaching staff is great and I know they can help me be a great athlete."
