High School -- Under head coach Tony Franks at Saint Mary's High School in Stockton, Salmon started on both the offensive and defensive lines as a senior, leading the Rams to a 12-2 mark last fall, including a 5-0 record for first place in the Tri-City Athletic League ... Saint Mary's reached the championship game of the CIF-Sac-Joaquin Section Division II playoffs, falling to Grant 21-14 ... Salmon made 80 tackles (35 solo) on defense to go along with four sacks and a trio of fumble recoveries ... his career high for tackles is 13 against Los Gatos and Salmon also notched 10 tackles against Tracy ... earned first-team All-Tri-City Athletic League and All-San Joaquin County honors and also was named his team's most valuable defensive lineman ... runs the 40 in 4.7 seconds and benches 285 pounds ... also recruited by Sacramento State, Cal, Oregon, Oregon State and San Diego State, Salmon chose Cal Poly because the environment that the coaches and players project is unparalleled by any other school.
