Russell Oka, a three-time Southern California IntercollegiateAthletic Conference All-Academic selection while attending PitzerCollege, was hired in the spring of 2011 as a defensive qualitycontrol coach at Cal Poly.
Oka was a running back for the Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens from2006-09, earning second-team All-SCIAC honors in 2009 after rushingfor 619 yards and two touchdowns while also catching 27 passes for193 yards.
As a junior in 2008, Oka rushed for 328 yards and threetouchdowns and also caught eight passes.
Oka also competed in track and field for Pomona-Pitzer in the2008 and 2009 seasons with best marks of 12.03 in the 100, 24.48 inthe 200 and 55.86 in the 400.
Oka is a 2006 graduate of Loyola High School in Los Angeles,where he was a running back and defensive back. He rushed for 500yards and six touchdowns as a senior in 2005.
Oka graduated from Pitzer College in 2010 with a bachelor'sdegree in psychology.
