Henry Adelman was named Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach at Cal Poly in January 2022. He works with the football program, as well as men’s soccer, women’s basketball, wrestling, and the throwers on the track and field team.
Prior to Cal Poly, Adelman was Head Football Strength and Conditioning Coach at Maryville College in Maryville, Tenn., just outside Knoxville. He also volunteered his time with the Tennessee Vols and was a Sport Performance Coach at D1- Knoxville, where he worked with athletes and clients of all sports, ages, and training levels.
Prior to his work in Tennessee, Adelman was a Strength and Conditioning Coaching Assistant at Fresno State. He began his work in Fresno in January 2017 as an intern and was a Graduate Assistant while earning his degree in Education with a specialty in Curriculum and Instruction.
At Fresno State, Adelman worked with football, baseball, wrestling, women’s volleyball, women’s soccer and equestrian. Before his stint in Fresno, Adelman spent one year at Dakota College at Bottineau, a small junior college in North Dakota (2016), where he held the title of Head Strength and Conditioning Coach. Adelman is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist with the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
Adelman was born and raised in nearby Arroyo Grande, Calif., graduating from Arroyo Grande High School in 2012. He earned his undergraduate degree in applied exercise science from Willamette University in 2016 and was a two-year starter at linebacker for the Bearcats' football team, serving as team captain in the 2015 season and earning all-conference honors.
Adelman is engaged to his fiancé Victoria.
