- Title:
- Special Teams Coordinator / Linebackers Coach
Eric Brown is in his first year as linebackers coach and special teams coordinator for Cal Poly.
Brown has been the head coach at Clovis West High School in Fresno for the past five seasons. In five years, Brown compiled an overall record of 31-28 and led the Golden Eagles to the 2022 TRAC championship.
Prior to leading Clovis West, Brown worked under Coach Skipper at UNLV as the outside linebackers coach while Skipper was defensive coordinator in 2018. Before that, Brown was the linebackers coach at Idaho for five years.
Brown has mentored several standout linebackers in his career, which earned him an AFCA 30 under 30 honor in 2016 - a distinction given to college football’s brightest up-and-coming stars of the coaching world. Under his tutelage at Idaho, Brown had at least one All-Sun Belt linebacker selected in each of the last three seasons, including three all-conference selections in 2017.
Before joining the Vandals, Brown coached outside linebackers for one year at Indiana State. Among the players under his guidance were two players ranked in the top three in the Missouri Valley Football Conference and top 25 in the FCS in tackles per game and one Freshman All-America linebacker.
The son of the late longtime Fresno State assistant and defensive coordinator Dan Brown, Eric played for and graduated from Fresno State. Following his playing career, he served as a student assistant and became a graduate assistant for the Bulldogs after earning his bachelor’s degree in 2011.
