Dorian Keller, a wide receiver at Santa Rosa Junior College in 2004 and 2005 and at the University of San Diego in 2006, was hired in April 2015 to coach the fullbacks and tight ends at Cal Poly.
"Dorian has prepared himself well at San Diego and San Diego State and I think he is ready to handle coaching his own position,” said Mustang head coach Tim Walsh.
Keller served as a graduate assistant coach at San Diego State from 2012-14, coaching the tight ends his first two years and safeties and special teams in 2014.
Keller also coached three campaigns at his alma mater, the University of San Diego, where he was the quality control coach of the offense and assisted with the offensive line in 2009 and coached the tight ends in 2010 and 2011 in addition to being the travel and video coordinator. San Diego won the Pioneer League title in 2011. Keller coached the Toreros’ offensive line in the spring of 2012.
He coached a pair of NFL tight ends -- Packy Doyle (San Diego, 2010-11, signed a free agent contract with the San Diego Chargers) and Gavin Escobar (San Diego State, 2012, second-round draft choice by the Dallas Cowboys).
Keller was a wide receiver at University of San Diego in 2006, but suffered a career-ending knee injury. He was a team captain during his career at Santa Rosa Junior College. In 2005, his team went 8-3 and won the Fresno City Dairy Bowl.
Keller is a graduate of El Molino High School in Forestville, where he competed on both sides of the ball as a cornerback and wide receiver. He earned first-team all-league honors on both offense and defense and twice was a team captain. Keller also lettered in basketball and track and field at El Molino.
Keller is a 2008 graduate of the University of San Diego with a degree in psychology and a minor in business administration. He earned his master’s degree in postsecondary educational leadership at San Diego State in the fall of 2014.
Keller is married to the former Katie Dennerline.
