Casey Petree

Casey Petree was hired as the Special Teams Coordinator and Tight Ends coach at Cal Poly in December 2019. Petree came to Cal Poly from SMU where he was a quality control coach working with the safeties and special teams. The Mustangs finished 10-3 and played in the Boca Raton Bowl.
As a graduate assistant at Cal, Petree assisted on special teams and worked with the wide receivers in 2016 and 2017, and tight ends in 2018.
In both full seasons at Cal Poly, Petree has led Cal Poly tight ends to All Big-Sky honors. Ryan Rivera earned Second Team honors in 2021, and in 2022 freshman Josh Cuevas was named to the FCS All-Freshman and Third Team All-Big Sky Teams after recording 58 receptions for 678 yards and six touchdowns as well as being named to the Jerry Rice Award Watch List.
A Lubbock, TX native, Petree is a 2009 graduate of the University of Texas with a bachelor's degree in Radio, Television and Film.
While coaching the Bears, Petree also earned a master's degree in public health at Cal, earning his degree in the fall of 2018. Petree married Sarah Guitar Peacock on Feb. 15, 2020 at her family's ranch in Devine, Texas, just outside San Antonio, and the couple welcomed their first child, Spike Repps Petree, to their family on September 4, 2022.
