High School -- Under head coach Rick Jackson at Madison High School, Nillaga earned 30 career sacks and 26 quarterback hurries in three varsity seasons ... the two-star prospect notched 46 tackles in both his junior and senior seasons and 20 as a sophomore for 112 career stops, 19.0 of which were for lost yardage ... had 12 sacks as a senior, 14.5 as a junior and 3.5 as a sophomore ... Nillaga's career numbers also include one interception, four pass breakups, two fumble recoveries and one forced fumble ... was selected to represent San Diego in the 2017 Makasi Bowl 2 San Diego vs. Inland Empire All-Star Game ... Madison was 8-3 in 2017, qualifying for the CIF-San Diego Section Open Division playoffs ... earned first-team All-Western League honors ... also helped the Warhawks to the 2016 California state Division I championship and a 13-2 overall record ... four-time Honor Roll member and earned President's Award ... served as ASB president and member of Key Club, Link Crew and Interact Club ... visited Penn before choosing Cal Poly because of its "great academics."
"Cesar was recruited by many of the Ivy League schools, but wants to stay in California," said Mustang head coach Tim Walsh. "He has a tremendous upside physically and, at 6-3 and 245 pounds now, I can only imagine him at 265 or so. He's very athletic and will fit at two of our defensive line positions. He wants to play early, so we will see where he's at early in Fall Camp."
