
Mustangs See Win Streak Snapped by No. 22 San Diego State

SAN DIEGO — The Cal Poly women’s tennis team saw a pair of impressive singles wins but ultimately had its five match win streak snapped Friday at the hands of No. 22 San Diego State by a score of 5-2.
In doubles, the Mustangs’ No. 2 pair of Candela Aparisi and Natalie Lynch won their match 7-5 to improve to 7-2 on the season together. However, the Aztecs picked up wins at both the No. 1 and No. 3 spots to take the doubles point.
In singles, it was a battle as four of the six matches went to three sets. At the No. 2 spot, Jessica MacCallum won her match in three sets, 7-5, 1-6, 6-3.
At the No. 5 spot, Natalie Lynch earned Cal Poly’s other point as she also won in three sets, 6-3, 5-7, 6-0. Lynch is now 6-3 in singles on the season.
San Diego State earned straight set wins at the No. 1 and No. 4 spots and three set wins at the No. 3 and No. 6 spots to round out their victory.
Cal Poly stays in the San Diego area Saturday as they return to Big West play to take on UC San Diego at 11 a.m.
